STEPHANIE TURK

Stephanie Turk has always been drawn to the benefits of a movement practice. Starting off as a high school athlete in Westchester, New York, then a gym rat, then a yogi, she has kept a regular movement practice through many moves and life changes. When she started studying barre, she developed an even deeper mind-body connection as the challenging modality combines yoga, Pilates, and ballet to develop balance, glute strength, stamina, and awareness of deep core and pelvic muscles. Teaching barre gave her a dancer’s perspective on movement, alignment, and precision, and she helps her students develop their own mind-body connection while keeping every class challenging and unique. With a 25-year personal yoga practice under her belt, she decided to go back to school to get her 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification at the Castro Room in San Francisco. Now trained in yoga philosophy, anatomy, and history, she is thrilled to be teaching at her longtime home studio Yoga on Center, alongside so many wonderful teachers. In addition to her barre and yoga certifications she holds a prenatal exercise certification from AFPA Fitness and welcomes moms and moms-to-be in all her classes.
